MJAZZ LP10 - Justice & Metro - Oxymoron

A journey into connective contrast, the Oxymoron LP is Justice & Metro’s best collaborative work to date. A refined exploration of self, history and the unmistakable MJAZZ sound. Paradoxically both future and retro, a true oxymoron.

“The Oxymoron LP is a total nod to our early days in rave in dodgy clubs and shady house parties in and around Luton and London. The sounds being played were a heady mix of lots of different genres, Acid, Breakbeat, House, Hardcore, Hip Hop were all played back to back in no order but somehow they all went, they maybe shouldn't have but they did, dark and light, bitter sweet, oxymorons in sound.” – Justice & Metro

MJAZZ15 – Rawtrachs – Jump and Accept the Power

MJAZZ presents ‘Rawtrachs’ is a 17-minute ride of beats, bass, noise and rawness. There’s an obvious influence of jungle break beats and a ‘f**k off’ attitude to formulaic music. The music represents freedom from the formula, freedom from restrictions, and most of all the freedom to connect with the universe via intuitive experiments with sounds.

This release is limited to 30 cassettes – the cassettes are blue in a yellow case with a handcrafted cover – each of these covers are different (no two covers are the same). The cassette cases are then packaged up in an extra case which is hand sprayed with the MJAZZ seal of approval – super limited handcrafted packaging! This music is unapologetic and unadulterated – no ‘watered down for the masses’ business!

1 Rawtrachs – Before Time Was
2 Rawtrachs – Track 6
3 Rawtrachs – Cyberton3
4 Rawtrachs – Track 4
5 Rawtrachs – Cyberton1
6 Rawtrachs – Old Ting
7 Rawtrachs – Sound 1

MJAZZ 12 & 13

MJAZZ 012 comes in the form of Zulu by Metro, an absolute killer of a track, this moody roller has been described as sounding like the cleaner from labyrinth. Heavy, grimey bass with melodic bell chimes and grinding sounds, topped with african chants and techy beats. The Flip is Marbles which finds Invincible teaming up with Metro on a weighty drum funk brawl of bass, beats and bleeps.

Supported by Nerm & D-Code, Gappa G, Pessimist, Sub, Diamond Eye, Justice, Joe Syntax and Illusionist & Darm.

MJAZZ 013 starts with the slower bass driven lushness of Stratocumulus from Iceland's Muted. Full of atmospheric pressure from the iceman's unique sound. Cuelock delivers the flip and picks up the pace with Cumulus Clouds. Hypnotic with rolling bass, techy detriot esque stabs and lines, MJAZZ 013 will definitely take you up into the clouds.

The seminal Modern Urban Jazz release from 1995.

ICONS (Justice & Blame) - Emotions with Intellect.

Muzik Mag - 5 out of 5 - "[the title] is the most accurate definition of this album you could ask for.... one of the greatest drum'n'bass albums to date..."

Option - "a smart, wonderfully soulful record that ranks with the best jungle has to offer.... Thick with bass, suffused with freeform jazz riffs... spacy and slow, with an uncharacteristic warmth..."

Code - "This is an amazing album which somehow failed to garner the same attention as projects by Goldie and LTJ Bukem around the same time. I believe much of this was actually produced in 1994 - I saw Fabio review "Salsa Flavour" in Atmosphere magazine that year, for instance and the tunes certainly have a '94 production feel to them. However, they are streets ahead of much contemporary Drum & Bass in terms of subtlety and execution.
The aforementioned "Salsa Flavour" is a real fusion between Salsa and Drum & Bass. All the Brazilian influenced D&B that's coming out now falls flat in comparison with this gem. The whole album is brillant though, don't pass it up"

"Blame and Justice's polished, jazzy drum'n'bass productions walk the line between Goldie's house-oriented jungle and the organic futurist fusion of L.T.J Bukem. On Emotions with Intellect, the duo let their synthesizers do the mood enhancement while a crucial set of breaks provides reserves of intellect. It's undoubtedly an emotional album, and intelligent at that."

**Voted Number 17 in the Fact Magazine 100 Best Albums of the 1990's**

The Aquisse remix project….

For those who don't know 'Aquisse' is one of Justice's most well known and well
loved tracks. This seminal classic is one of the many reasons why he and the
MJAZZ label are held in such high regard in d&b circles.

2010 marked the tracks 15th birthday so he thought it would be a good opportunity
to bring it up to date and release it for a new generation of d&b fans.

For this he enlisted the talents of no less than 7 of his favourite producers in the
genre at the moment, Sinistarr, Chris Inperspective, Metro, Muted, DiamonD EyE, Invincible and Paranoid Society.

This re-release includes the original mix by Justice and the Justice & Neil Trix Aquisse 06'
